Belvedere Castle

Fifty Three Restorations reconstructed the three Belvedere Castle pavilions. We were responsible for the structural as well as decorative woodworking and directed the work of the firm responsible for the slate roofs and the lead coated copper work.

The pavilions had been altered from their original designs and had fallen into a state of disrepair. However, working under the direction of the Central Park Conservancy's architectural team, and using 19th century photographs as well as shards of original Calvert Vaux drawings to guide us, we were able to return the pavilions to their original form and detail.
